ANDRADA POLYTECHNIC & PANTANO HIGH SCHOOLS

This LEED® Silver Certified, CMAR project included the construction of two separate high schools on a shared 60 acre site. Andrada Polytechnic High School is designed for 525 students with a capacity of 743 students. The school features bio-science, automotive, and healthcare academies organized around a central commons that includes a commercial kitchen, cafeteria, a large work out room with locker rooms, two-story loft sitting area that overlooks a multipurpose space. The school also has a library and outdoor basketball court.

Pantano High School is an alternative high school with an award-winning program specializing in providing a nontraditional school setting for those students having difficulty thriving in a standard high school. It was designed for 200 students. The buildings were constructed of masonry, along with some wood framing. The shared campus includes a 600kW photovoltaic system, an on-site wastewater treatment system capable of treating nearly 30,000 gallons per day and many other green building initiatives. These schools were designed and constructed with features to facilitate future expansion.

ESMOND STATION MIDDLE SCHOOL

Esmond Station is a 51,405 SF Middle School. For this new construction, scope of work included (20) new classrooms, MPR, library, office space, and a play structure. A historic rail bed bisects the property leading to a railroad theme in the design of the school. Union Pacific donated several items including a clock tower. The Vail Preservation Society purchased a historic, 100-year old railroad foreman’s house. We carefully transported to the site and re-roofed it. The remainder of the renovation was performed by the students, as part of their curriculum. As a final tribute to the railroad theme, we constructed and donated a 50’ custom built trestle bridge.
